RE: Compensation for lost luggage
My luggage was lost during the flight from Shanghai to Paris to Kiev on the 2nd September 2007.We checked in as a group of 5 people with total of 7 pieces of luggage in Shanghai. 4 of them arrived in Kiev whereas 3 pieces were lost. I lodged a report at the Lost and Found department in Borispol airport in Kiev. 2 luggages were retrieved and sent back to us on the 5th September 2007 but my piece is still missing. I tried calling Air France branch in Kiev airport everyday to ask for updates of my missing luggage but with negative reply.
2. I would like to point out also my dissatisfaction with the service provided over the phone. There is this particular incident, I called on the 8th September 2007 as usual and I was told that my file was closed and my luggage should be on the way sent back to me. I was glad to hear that until when I called again on the 10th September 2007, I was told that my file was closed by mistake and my luggage is still missing. I was very disappointed with the service; it makes me wonder if I had not called at all to ask about my luggage everyday, and my file was closed so-called by mistake, what kind of situation it will turn out to be? Furthermore, I was asked for the tag number of my luggage after nearly 2 weeks, and that really surprised me, shouldn’t the person in charge in Lost and Found have already taken down all the necessary tag numbers and necessary information before I left the airport? I would like to quote a sentence written on an Air France envelope –‘Please be assured that your file is being treated with the utmost care and attention’; I have no confidence at all with this from what I had experienced.
3. My flight with Air France was a compensated one due to mistakes done by Aerosvit and China Eastern Airline. It had already caused so much stress and inconvenience on me with all the delays, and I thought it would be finally a pleasant trip to be able to fly with Air France, an airline with high reputation but yet left me with total disappointment at the end. For your information, I am a student currently studying in Ukraine; I had carried all my daily necessities inside my luggage from my country, Malaysia, for a more convenient life in Ukraine. However, with my luggage lost, and as a foreigner here, it had caused tremendous inconvenience and stress in my life, in addition with all the stress dealing with dissatisfactory services provided over the phone.
4. I hope that Air France would compensate for all my losses and inconvenience caused stated above. Attached here with the letter is a list of contents of my luggage plus amount of phone bill spent calling Air France and all the necessary supporting documents. Truthfully, I still hope that my luggage can be found as there are things inside which are priceless. Thank you.

P/S: For your information, my new file number is KBPAF29980, family name CHAN. Please contact me at this number +380979312631 for any enquires.

Sincerely,
